What's It Worth? 1976 Cadillac Seville..Caddy Breaks Its Own Mold

During the dark OPEC embargo filled automotive days of the 1970′s Cadillac offered a ray of sunshine called the 1976 Cadillac Seville. Seeing the increase of import luxury sales Cadillac wanted to create a car with International Style. The idea and concept was introduced in 1973 with a target date of 1975.

Only 16 months from inception to introduction. A record for Caddy. Based on the Chevy Nova-Olds Omega platform Caddy massaged it with four wheel disc brakes crisp Euro handling and elegant styling. Powering the 1976 Seville was a Bendix Fuel injected 350 V8 borrowed from Oldsmobile. GM set up special Service Clinics to teach dealers how to work on the sometimes quirky fuel injection systems and rear disc brakes. Despite that they proved to be reliable and the Caddy-A-Fied Olds Rocket V8 was bulletproof.

Interiors were filled with supple leathers and fine carpets. At a base price of $12,479 it was the most expensive Caddy of its day. The 1976-1979 Cadillac Seville are milestone cars. It was a great idea and it took Caddy over 25 years to build something even close in style and comfort.

The steamer trunk Seville that replaced it had tepid mechanics known as the Cam Eating HT4100, an overly glitzy look and the build quality of a Yugo. Thus making the first Gen Seville a Milestone Car and very collectible.
